PLC Offering: Literature as an Avenue for Authentic Conversation in the Classroom 

In this professional learning community, we will explore how novels, picture books, and nonfiction titles can be used as effective tools in the classroom for discussing, experiencing, and learning about:

  • Current Topics/ Events (Session 1): September 13

  • Difficult Topics in History (Session 2): November 8

  • Underrepresented Cultures (Session 3): January 31

  • PLC Reflection & Sharing (Session 4): March 28

Your librarians look forward to joining you for each session as we strive to develop ourselves and our students as curious learners, conscientious thinkers, and resilient navigators.

PLC Expectations

  • Complete required reading. 
  • Attend all sessions. 
  • Create and deliver at least one lesson utilizing books and/ or concepts from our discussions. Be prepared to share your experience and reflect on the year at our final session (March 28).
